Learn To Ski 1 - How Skis Work & How To Use Them Right
How do skis work? Each ski is a flat board with wide tips & tails and proportionately much narrower waist. Each ski also has two edges on the side, which grip the snow. Cutting into the slope, the edges of the tips & tails stablize the ski as you move forward on your skis. This is called traversing sideways. How to stop? In a traverse, loosen the edges just a bit, and when you slip, tighten the edges up, and you will stop.
