Learn To Ski 3 - Refining the turn
To carve, don't let the tail of the ski slip, maintaining edge throughout the turn. Tip the unweighted ski over onto its outside edge, pulling the weighted ski into a deeper edge angle. To make short turns, skid a tiny bit and pull your knee into the turn. Linking turns is also very important. One turn flowing into the next, keep your upper body facing downhill. Also, narrow your stance until your boots are almost touching (1-5in gap). Also important: don't put your weight on your heels (if you do, you will lose your balance and your skis will wobble); instead, put your weight on the balls of your feet, which is the center of the ski. If you have a balance problem or wobbling skis, this may help.
